Isaiah51:11says,“ThereforetheredeemedoftheLordshall
return, and come with singing unto
Zion; and everlasting
joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and
mourning shall flee away.”
Here the Bible talks
about the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb. In the message, we would be
considering the following: What is the Song of Moses? When can it be sung? Who
is qualified to sing it?
In Exodus 15: 1-19,
we find the song of Moses:
“Then sang
Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I
will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his
rider hath he thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and song, and he is
become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my
father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his
name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen
captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. The depths have covered them: they
sank into the bottom as a stone. Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in
power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. And in the
greatness of thine excellency thou hast overtrown them that rose up against
thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. And with the
blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood
upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. The
enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust
shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the
mighty waters. Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee,
glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Thou stretchedst out
thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the
people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy
holy habitation. The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on
the inhabitants of Palestina. Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty
men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canan
shall melt away. Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine
arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O Lord, till
the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. Thou shalt bring them in, and
plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O Lord, which
thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands
have established. The Lord shall reign for ever and ever. For the horse of
Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the
Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel
went on dry land in the midst of the sea.”
The question is: are
you able to sing the song of Moses? Bible history reveals that Jacob left the
land of Canaan for Egypt to look for food. The children of Israel were in
slavery in Egypt for many years. Why did God keep them there that long?
In Genesis 46: 5-7,
we see the prophecy. It says, “And Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the
sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their
wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. And they took their
cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came
into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him. His sons, and sons’ sons with him,
his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and all his seed brought he with him
into Egypt.”
Genesis 15: 12-15: “And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell
upon Abram, and lo an horror of great darkness fell upon him. And he said unto
Abram, know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not
theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
and also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge. And afterward shall
they come out with great substance. And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace,
thou shalt be buried in a good old age.”
Why did the seed of
Abraham have to go through all these? It is for a few reasons:
1.
God gives a picture that those heading for heaven must first become
strangers/pilgrims here. Sometimes when somebody has not been through bondage he
will not fully understand freedom.
2.
Heavenly pilgrims must pass through Egypt. Egypt represents the world. Everyone
who is born again has to leave Egypt.
3.
Egyptians will afflict us if we remain in Egypt. That is, remaining in the world
and dancing to its tune will only lead to suffering.
4.
God wanted these people to pass through their period of testing.
THE SCHOOLS OF GOD
In a sense, God is
telling us that His various children will pass through various schools until
they pass their exams. Many of us are passing through schools now and we wonder
what is happening.
The school of good
behaviour:
God may be passing you through the school of good behaviour. God wants you to
adjust that your behaviour. Until you pass, there will be no rest.
The school of
humility:
If God sees that you are not humble, He will cause you to work under people who
are inferior to you, until you learn the principle of humility. You will be
complaining, “O Lord, I am more qualified than these people.” When you learn the
lesson of humility, He will say, “Okay, now you can go.”
The school of
self-control:
God is passing some people through the school of self-control. They have been
out of control and have caused problems for themselves and are trying to solve
the problems now. But the lesson God is teaching is that you must be able to
control yourself. You must be able to speak to yourself and say, “Flesh, I am
the controller here. You cannot tell me what to do, I will tell you what to do.”
That is why Paul said, “But I put my body under and bring it into subjection
lest at any time when I have preached to others I myself will be a cast away.”
It means that the flesh can send somebody to hell fire.
The school of
prayer:
God is passing some people through the school of prayer and He creates prayer
points for them to pray. He wants them to pass an examination.
The school of
fasting:
God is running some people through the school of fasting. Some of the people in
this school had a lot of money before, and they spent it sponsoring beauty
contests, boxing matches, pasted it on the heads of women at parties. God then
said, “Okay, there is no problem, your fasting will soon start. “Now their
fasting has started and the money has disappeared. God is teaching them a
lesson. He is saying, “When I bless you again, you will know how to handle
money.”
The Son of God
Himself, Jesus, passed through various schools while He was on earth. Imagine
the Son of God, the One who created men. These men stood before Him and argued
on the Scriptures which He wrote.
Many people cannot
sing the song of victory today because they are still suffering in Egypt. But
praise God that the song of Moses is for us all. In Egypt, the Israelites cried
to God and He reacted to their cry. God sent Moses to them. God first worked on
him and he started his ministry at the old age of 80. He went on and led the
people of the Lord away from the land of bondage. When they came out, the
enemies began to pursue them. God had to deal with their enemies. He sent
plagues of darkness, locust, blood, etc, upon them. The Israelites became too
hot to handle before they were released. The stubborn pursuers still ran after
them until they eventually killed themselves. After they had finished themselves
in the Red Sea came the song of Moses.
So, the song of Moses
is the song of the overcomer. It is the song of the victorious ones. It is the
song of the winner. It is the song of those who are more than conquerors. Jesus
does not want anybody to live a life of bondage. Therefore, if you find that the
enemies do not want to release you on time, you can use the method of Moses and
send plagues upon them. After the Egyptians perished, the song of Moses came.
THE INITIAL AND
THE FINAL SONGS OF VICTORY
You can make yourself
qualified to sing the Song of Moses. We have the initial victory and the final
victory. Our initial victory is the victory over the devil and the flesh. But
the initial victory is not good enough. The best victory is the final one.
WHAT IS THE SONG
OF THE LAMB?
Revelation 15: 3-4: ,
“And they sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the
Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty, just and
true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and
glorify thy name? For thou only art holy. For all nations shall come and worship
before thee; for thy judgements are made manifest.”
The song of the Lamb
is the song of the redeemed when they get to heaven. You will first sing the
song of Moses before the song of the Lamb. Everybody will be a chorister in
heaven because they have to sing the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb.
It is very sad but
true that many church goers are going to hell fire. The neglect of talent will
send some people to hell fire. Some people are doing nothing for the Master.
Such people just come for miracles, signs and wonders. They go away with all the
blessings and contribute nothing. Such people should be assured that they are
going to hell fire and there will be no song of Moses or that of the Lamb.
The servant that
buried his talent landed in hell fire. His master said, “Push him out into utter
darkness where there is gnashing of teeth.” And he was thrown out. Why? He
refused to use his talent.
Some people will go
to hell fire because of unprofitable spiritual development. They started with
one ministry and there was no growth but all they were interested in was how the
place was run and how much they could collect. They are not interested in the
spread of the gospel and the spiritual growth of people. Religious attachment to
dead churches will end in hell fire. God did not ask you to go to church to warm
benches on Sundays. To serve Jesus is better than wearing expensive clothes and
sitting on decorated seats. When a person is doing a lot of activities but his
spiritual life is not deep, he is living a superficial life. Such a person
cannot sing the song of the Lamb. When a person spends only 20 minutes from
Monday to Friday to read the Bible, such a person is on his way to hell fire.
All those who have
enrolled in the school of Jonah: God told them to go somewhere, they said, no,
that they would go to where they liked. Hell fire is awaiting such people.
Unscriptural marriages and ungodly relationships would lead people to hell fire.
People involved in such exercises cannot sing the song of the Lamb. All
believers who come to the house of God and are still busy playing games with the
devil, cannot sing the song of Moses.
The average modern-
day Christian is afraid of being described as fanatical or being referred to as
a “madman for Jesus”. Beloved, until you get to the level where people would
look at you and say, “You are mad,” your name may be blotted out of the Book of
life. Jesus was called a mad man, Paul was called a mad man.
Many are afraid of a
complete revision of their lives. Sisters who dress differently to church and
dress differently outside are afraid of a complete revision. When God asks
people to give up some certain things, they run away. Sometimes, our greatest
blessings come to us by way of what people call madness. When you start carrying
out the instructions of the Lord, a lot of people will think you are mad.
For one to sing the
song of Moses there must be freedom from pride, envy and malice. Deception and
impurity in the heart have to go. I pray that evil prophecy will not be
fulfilled in your life, in Jesus’ name.
